About This Blog…

New me…new blog.

One of my favorite parts of nature is the tree. It is a treasure with big rewards and goes unnoticed most of the day.  It provides birds and some bugs a home, it provides us humans with oxygen to survive, and amongst other things; it provides us with a shaded area on a hot summer day.  Here are some interesting facts about trees. (taken from Savatree.com)

  • A single tree produces approximately 260 pounds of oxygen per year. That means two mature trees can supply enough oxygen annually to support a family of four!
  • One tree can absorb as much carbon in a year as a car produces while driving 26,000 miles.
  • Over the course of its life, a single tree can absorb one ton of carbon dioxide.
  • An average American uses about 750 pounds of paper every year, and 95% of homes are built using wood. That means each person uses the equivalent of one 100 foot tall, 16 inch diameter, tree every year for their paper and wood product needs.
  • The shade and wind buffering provided by trees reduces annual heating and cooling costs by 2.1 billion dollars
  • About one third of the United States of Americais covered by forests.
  • According to the last forest inventory, there are almost 247 billion trees over 1 inch in diameter in the U.S.
  • The average tree in an urban/city area has a life expectancy of only 8 years.
  • The tallest tree in the country is a Coast Redwood growing in northern California’s
  • Redwood National Park. It is 369 feet tall and over 2000 years old!

What a treasure a tree is!  We couldn’t survive without them. Therefore, I name the tree as the symbol of this blog; symbolizing balance (the tree’s roots), strength (the tree’s trunk), growth, and beauty.

Let me start by saying that I am disheartened with the media’s negative tone. The media cripples us with fear of all the violence and horror that is happening in our world, and for that reason, I want this blog to be about the beauty that is all around us that gets very little credit. My intention for this blog is to challenge myself in hopes of challenging you to see the beauty, compassion, forgiveness and love that surrounds us. My hope is that this can be a place where one can read and be inspired to enjoy the little wonders of the world.

I want it to…

…be a reminder that although our world isn’t perfect, there is much that is perfect and goes unnoticed.

I want it to…

…remind everyone of those beautiful things and hopefully bring us back to that place of peace in our hearts that will inspire us to live a more fulfilling life.

I want it to…

…start your day with peace, love and harmony rather than, murder, corruption and infidelity as the media so apathetically reminds us.

My hope is that you can pause, reflect and have something to hold onto throughout the day that is joyful and inspiring. Enjoy.

Week 4 has been a good week.  I am down again from 75.7 kilos (149.25 pounds) to 75.5 kilos (148.80 pounds).  Not a lot…but it is going in the right direction.  This is almost double the amount of weight that I lost on the P90X nutritional plan for an entire 13 weeks.  So, yes I am very happy about this eating plan….I could accomplish some serious changes in the next few months!

Week 5 is starting off not so good as I am feeling blue.  I have this stomach issue and can’t seem to keep anything down.  So I am eating saltines and drinking gingerale the last two days. I have been able to workout a little so hopefully I can get moving again soon.

I have decided to change up my blog.  This blog was a way to hold me accountable and I feel I have made great strides.  I have been accepted into the graduate program at the University of California San Diego and will start the program in six weeks.  As of this past Saturday, I have finished my fifth (YES 5!) test that I have had to take to get into this program.  I have been studying and taking test for the past eight months and now I feel I can exhale a little and focus on things that give me joy! Therefore, I will be blogging more…my new little project.  Stay tuned for more.

God bless-ed!  The scale was very good to me, good to me indeed.   I was hoping for  68 kilos (151 pounds) on the scale for week three, well…the scale shocked me when I saw 67.8 kilos (149 pounds) instead! It skipped right over 68! Oh…how we like thee.  So since the start of my Super Sonic Sexy Style 6-week program, I have lost 4 kilos (8 pounds). Nice.

Feeling good and even bought new clothes.  Goodbye 14/12 (L) and HELLO 10/8 (M).  It has been a very long time and a very long journey.  I can almost exhale.
